Story of Self: Legislative Storytelling Workshop

Mar 13 @ 10:00 am - 12:30 pm

What’s the most impactful way to influence the Montana Legislature? Telling your personal story!

Facilitated by Elizabeth Marum, Chair of the Gallatin County Democrats, you’ll learn how to effectively and succinctly tell your story when advocating and lobbying for the issue that matters most to you.

During this workshop, Elizabeth will guide you through how to structure personal testimony, then you’ll be able to put it practice so that you’re ready for the next committee hearing.

Remember, we still have an opportunity to lift up or stop bills in the 2021 Montana Legislature, and it’s never too late to tell your story about how these bills impact you personally.

To make the most of this workshop, bring ONE issue that matters most and has the most direct impact on you.

We will break into pairs to practice, so please choose from these general topics:

Healthcare
Jobs/wages
Education
Environment, public lands, climate
Other – please bring something that is being debated in this session, not a topic that is highly specific.

This is a full workshop and will last between two and two and half hours.
